Dec. 14th Survey Update

Posted by Uriah On December - 14 - 2010

Update Dec. 14: The Alchemy mount Vial of the Sands is no longer Bind-on-Pickup.

It would seem as though Blizzard did a stealth-buff with Archaeology today. After realms came back up from maintenance/restart, many reports are coming in that players are looting an average 3 to 6 Fragments per survey now (up from only 3)!  I’m hunting down a blue poster to confirm the change but I have seen this in-game myself already. I’m looting anywhere from 3-6 fragments right now in the Eastern Kingdoms.

Will update this post as more news comes in…

Hoho i see so that’s what it was, seems like the “buff” is no longer available for me now, back to 3 fragment.

Interesting to see that the Vial of the Sands is no longer BOP … Guess Archeologists will be hoping to fill their chests with gold. Surely this will sell for a massive amount.

Oh yes :D With an about 30,000g in just Vendor MATs alone.

    • Barrabas says:

Alchemists*. You have to be max Archaeology to discover the pattern but only Alchemists can learn and thus make it. The recipe itself is BoP.

    • Uriah says:

Kinda, you’ll need 525 Alchemy and the Recipe is obtained through Archeology. It is contained in the Tol’Vir Common Artifact Canopic Jar.
You will need 450 Archeology to find Tol’Vir artifacts and they are in Uldum.

  3. Kazas says:

Frustrated, but such is life… (statistics not confirmed)
Chance of actually getting a dig site in Uldum: 10%
Chance of working on a Canopic Jar: 10%
Chance of actually getting the Recipe: 10%

so… sometime before 1000 digsites you should get the recipe….

I was 525 Alc & 10 minutes after hitting 525 Arc I picked up the Canopic Jar, opened and the Vial of the Sands recipe was inside. The next day, after getting all the mats, made most myself, I am the “The Sandstone Drake” ! I had been preparing mats for this for about a week ahead of time.Cheers!
